Our Story

Canopy started with a simple frustration: I had bank accounts, credit cards, student loans, a mortgage, investments, and subscriptions scattered across a dozen apps and websites. I could see individual pieces, but never the full picture. I didn't know if I could safely order dinner on a Tuesday night without throwing off my budget for the rest of the month.

I tried the apps. Mint shut down. YNAB wanted me to manually categorize everything. Others showed me charts but not answers. None of them felt like they were built for how I actually think about money — not as spreadsheet rows, but as a living system of bills, paychecks, debts, and goals all connected together.

So I built Canopy.

Canopy is a financial operating system. It connects your bank accounts, credit cards, loans, and investments through Plaid, then models your entire financial picture on one surface. It calculates what you can safely spend today. It maps your cash flow 30 days out so you know if next Friday is tight before it arrives. It compares debt payoff strategies with real amortization math. It catches subscriptions you forgot about. And it does all of this without ever touching your login credentials.

I'm building Canopy from Cookeville, Tennessee. No venture capital. No boardroom. Just one person who believes that understanding your money shouldn't require a finance degree or a $200/month advisor.

Finance doesn't have to be scary. That's not a tagline — it's the whole point.
